Working in private practice as a counselor and business coach, helping others develop the resiliency and resources to move beyond coping with life to embracing life.
She works with those who want to understand themselves better, introspectively and inter-personally. Those who are courageous enough to look beyond the “symptoms” and see what those symptoms are communicating about their core. This can happen for all ages, those who are married, those who are single, whole families, or individuals.
You are not a collection of symptoms. Many who come into Amy’s office have already begun to define their identity through anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessions, addictions, and the list goes on. These symptoms are simply there to point all of us, including Amy, to a deeper journey inward that gets to the heart of who we really are. This is not to minimize or trivialize the pain that goes with these symptoms. The pain is very real and Amy’s focus in counseling is to evaluate those symptoms and understand the core issues that are driving them. Her role is to develop a game plan that addresses both the core issues and the symptoms to help you understand who you really are and experience clarity, healing, and resolution.
Jeff Price, MA, MCP | Operations Director
Jeff Price, MCP, is the Operations Director at Terra Counseling & Consulting. He contributes 20 years of experience in organization management and efficiency expertise in the for-profit and non-profit industries. He ensures the effectiveness, efficiency, and success of all business operations including practice management, technology, finance, accounting, and marketing.
His expertise is in collaborating with business leaders, defining and implementing strategies, and creating operational business plans that support strategic initiatives and growth.
Jeff is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Biblical studies. He also achieved his Microsoft Certified Professional certification and studied Accounting and Information Systems at Loyola University Maryland.
Katie Kavalsky, MSW, LCSW-C, Board-Approved Supervisor | Clinical Social Worker | Psychotherapist
Katie Kavalsky, MSW, LCSW-C is a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist at Terra Counseling and Consulting. Katie received her Bachelor’s of Social Work from Eastern University in 2006 and her Master’s degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2007. Katie began her career in private practice at Wellspring Counseling in 2009 and recently worked at the Anxiety and Stress Disorders Institute of Maryland.
Katie brings to her work an appreciation for the complexity of the human experience and deep respect for the power of each person’s journey. Beyond treating symptoms, Katie is passionate about caring for the whole person. She provides this care by offering strategic support to individuals and families who are suffering, while simultaneously facilitating intentional growth and change. Through her mindful approach, clients experience both support and growth in a meaningful way. During her tenure as a therapist, Katie has witnessed the profound transformation that can occur during seasons of personal struggle or change, and she’s observed how those changes imbue a sense of power and purpose to our journeys. It is Katie’s desire to serve as a guide along that path for each of her clients.
Paula Peach, MS, LCPC, Board-Approved Supervisor | Psychotherapist
Paula Peach, MS, LCPC is a licensed, clinical, professional counselor at Terra Counseling & Consulting with over 25 years of experience in psychotherapeutic treatments. With a Master of Science in Applied Psychology and Quantitative Methods from the University of Baltimore, Paula specializes in the treatment of trauma, mood disorders, bereavement and loss, women’s issues, and life transition. After building a successful group practice at Peach Therapy, over the last 31 years, and touching hundreds of lives she has brought her skills and experience to Terra Counseling & Consulting.
Paula is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a proven, effective treatment modality for trauma, anxiety, and phobias. She is a Certified Riso-Hudson Enneagram Teacher and an Accredited Professional with the International Enneagram Association. Paula uses the Enneagram Personality model in therapy and teaches seminars and workshops.
Barbara van der Vossen, MA, LCPC | Psychotherapist | Therapeutic Art
Barbara van der Vossen is a licensed professional counselor providing traditional therapy and therapeutic art at Terra Counseling & Consulting. She has completed her Master of Arts in Art Therapy from the George Washington University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Fine Arts from the University of Maryland, Global Campus.
Some stories can’t be told through words. Barbara offers person-centered, trauma-informed therapeutic art services to people of varying backgrounds and needs. With empathy and compassion, she guides people through the healing capacity of their own creativity, helping them to better understand their experiences and find coping skills for an improved quality of life. Barbara’s multifaceted experience lends her an adaptive approach in supporting each person’s individual goals in a supportive, non-judgmental manner. Sometimes that involves art-making, sometimes that involves conversation, and often a combination of the two.
A long-time writer and artist, Barbara understands the transformative power of creative expression first-hand. She is passionate about exploring neuroscientific reasoning behind the human urge to create, and how that urge relates to the infinite potential for personal growth.
Hannah Thiessen, MSW, LMSW | Psychotherapist
Hannah Thiessen is a licensed master social worker (LMSW) providing traditional talk therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) at Terra Counseling & Consulting. She has completed her Master of Social Work with a specialization in behavioral health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Wake Forest University. Hannah is pursuing her EMDR certification and is already an EMDR trained clinician.
While Hannah enjoys working with clients of all ages, she has a special heart for adolescents and helping them navigate the complicated world they are growing up in today. She practices EMDR under consultation, which is one of the most researched and effective treatments for trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to support children, adolescents, and adults in their healing journey.
Hannah aims to develop a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship with her clients to give them a safe and empathic space to process painful emotions and experiences. She uses cognitive behavioral, person-centered, solution-focused, and mindfulness techniques within her client’s faith and worldview to help them enact change in their lives.
Jessica (Platt) Eyring, M.Ed., LGPC | Psychotherapist
Jessica Eyring, M. Ed., LGPC, is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor and Psychotherapist at Terra Counseling and Consulting. She received her Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University in 2010 and her Master’s degree from Loyola University Maryland in 2016. Jessica began her career in Public Relations, but after feeling unfulfilled, she returned to school, earning her Master’s in counseling. Jessica worked as a school counselor for Baltimore County Public Schools for eight years before transitioning into the independent school system. She is currently the school counselor at The Odyssey School in Baltimore.
Jessica is passionate about helping people. She specializes in supporting clients in managing their anxiety, depression, relationships, stress, and adjusting to life’s transitions. With Jessica, clients can expect an individualized treatment plan that will empower them to build resilience and thrive in their personal lives.
Jessica’s background in the school system and the highly regarded Odyssey School have uniquely equipped her to support children of all ages in navigating the challenges they face with learning differences. She is warm and empathetic and creates an environment where her clients feel heard and understood.
